Girl Power: Origami Owl Acquires willa
Origami Owl Family of Brands has acquired willa, a beauty company cofounded by the mother-daughter team of Crhisty Prunier and Willa Doss, the latter of which is 16 years old. (Keep up on the state of beauty M&A here.)
The brand is focused on social selling products formulated for young women, according to the companies.
Origami Owl Family of Brands was similarly founded by teenagers.
"Nothing gives us more pleasure than to share our momentum with a like-minded company like willa."
Prunier and Doss will continue to be involved in the brand. Annette McEvoy will serve as willa CEO. McEvoy previously held roles with Preference Hair Color (L'Oreal), Revlon and Gap body care, and was on the founding team of Bath & Body Works.
"All of us at willa are thrilled to be joining the Origami Owl Family of Brands," said McEvoy. "We have complementary visions and goals. We're led by two mother-daughter teams with authentic, beautiful stories. We both believe in high-performing better-for-you beauty for women of all ages who share our mission. This partnership will enable willa to reach a larger social selling audience and share willa's inherent goodness with even more people."
"We've been so impressed by willa's team, mission and quality of products," said Origami Owl co-founder Chrissy Weems. "Origami Owl has benefited from more than six years of experience, growth and learning in the social selling arena. Nothing gives us more pleasure than to share our momentum with a like-minded company like willa."
