Crodarom Evokes J-beauty Hydration with Sustainable Algae Extract

Croda welcomed a new marine member to its Crodarom lineup: Crodarom Green Caviar (INCI: Water (aqua) (and) Glycerin (and) Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract).

The botanical extract is intended to hydrate, revitalize and protect in skin, body and hair care applications. It was inspired by J-beauty principles, which place an emphasis on simple hydrating formulations that leave behind a radiant and fresh complexion.

The hygroscopic ingredient is rich in oligoelements and polysacc­harides, which provide antioxidant and smoothing properties. Croda's testing found that at 3%, the extract significantly increases hydration while fighting skin dehydration.

Made from caviar algae, the ingredient is sustainably sourced via Croda’s partnership with a local Philippine farm; there, the alga is harvested by hand and sun-dried before being extracted using Croda's Eco-Sound technology. The process is gentle on the surrounding environment and its biodiversity.

Through this partnership, Croda also hopes to help foster local development with a safe and sustainable work environment, while producing a transparent supply chain.
