Plant-Based Synthetic EGF for Anti-aging

Lipotrue will smoke the competition with its Epitensive (INCI: not available) anti-aging product, to be presented next week at in-cosmetics North America. This plant-based synthetic human epidermal growth factor (EGF) is obtained from N. benthamiana, a close relative of the tobacco plant, by transient expression in a non-GMO system.

The ingredient can be incorporated into cosmetic formulas to visually reverse the signs of skin aging. According to the company, it was shown to stimulate cutaneous regeneration and restructuring in vitro and on human skin explants. Moreover, in vivo, it helped to improve elasticity, roughness and wrinkles, and rejuvenate skin's physiological age.
